Marching percussion ensembles spend hours upon hours in rehearsal each day to perfect their indoor or field show, with their main objective often being to PLAY CLEAN. Most adjudication criteria focuses on the "how" as opposed to the "what." And we’ve all heard the statement, "it's not what you play, but how you play it."

If you’re an outsider to the band world, your assumption on the size of a marching group may come from big college football halftime shows, and be that these groups are always BIG. Or, if you’re from a small town, you may assume that they’re smaller based on what you’ve seen at a local high school football game. The reality is that marching bands come packaged in all sorts of sizes, from the powerhouse collegiate bands to the tightly-knit small school groups and everything in between.

The Marching band is open to students that play musical instruments entering grades 7 through 12. It is essentially a fall activity that begins with a week-long camp in August and runs through early December. We perform a half time show at all home and away varsity football games and march in two parades a year including a holiday parade in November and the Memorial Day parade in May. Marching band is an activity that offers a great deal for all students involved. Students continue to develop many desirable qualities that include becoming more proficient on their instrument, developing a sense of commitment, respect for others and for hard work, pride, teamwork and long lasting friendships.
