Metrolina Christian takes No. 1 in final baseball rankings for 2024; Ashley and Greene Central among area code leaders (2024)

For the first time, Metrolina Christian is the No. 1 team in the final HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 baseball rankings, taking the top spot in the final rankings after winning the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4A championship and ending the year with an 29-2 record.

The Warriors are just in front of five other state champions — the first time any HSOT final ranking has had six champs in the top six spots. Finishing second is N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A champ East Rowan, 4A champ T.C. Roberson is third, 2A champ Greene Central is fourth, NCISAA 2A champ Wayne Country Day is fifth, and NCISAA 3A champ Grace Christian of Sanford is sixth.

One other state champion was No. 18 Uwharrie Charter (1A champ). NCISAA 1A champ Lawrence Academy was unranked in the statewide top 25, and just missed being ranked in the 252 area code top 15.

In total, 13 teams from the preseason top 25 made the final statewide rankings, with Wayne Country Day the highest-ranked team who was unranked at the beginning fo the year. Of the preseason top 10, two of them ended in the final top 10. Metrolina Christian began the year ranked 20th. The preseason No. 1 was T.C. Roberson.
