Can you get into UCI with a 3.5 GPA? ›

GPA Requirement

You must receive a 3.0 GPA (3.4 for non-California residents) or higher in the 15 required “A-G” subject courses, with no grade lower than a C.

The acceptance rate at UC Irvine is 21.3%.

This means the school is very selective. If you meet UC Irvine's requirements for GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and other components of the application, you have a great shot at getting in.

The New Only restriction is used to reserve seats for new students who will be enrolling in classes during their orientation sessions over the summer. Some courses will be completely reserved. Other courses may have some seats reserved for incoming students while having open seats for continuing students.

You may repeat courses, up to a maximum of 16 units, in which you receive grades of C- or below (or NP). If the course was originally taken on a letter grade basis, it must be repeated on a letter grade basis.

It's a good idea to look at the average GPA for schools you're interested in as one aspect of your evaluation. For UC Irvine, the average GPA of admitted students ranges from around 4.0 to 4.25 on a weighted UC scale.

At UC Irvine, the first-year middle 50% GPA is 4.07-4.28 (weighted) and 3.86-4.00 (unweighted). So, you should strive for a high GPA throughout high school.

Due to this massive change in our world, UC colleges started being test blind which attracted students that did not take the SAT/ACT or ones that didn't score high on those standardized tests. This inflation of applicants caused the acceptance rate to be lower.

Which school is easier to get into? If you're looking at acceptance rate alone, then University of California-San Diego (UC San Diego) is more difficult to get into. However, each college is looking to fill its incoming class with a variety of students with different strengths, backgrounds, etc.

Diversity among admitted students also increased. Based on previous enrollment patterns and competition for top-tier students, the campus expects to enroll approximately 4,100 freshmen this fall.

In other words, of 100 students who apply, 21 are admitted. This means the school is quite selective.

Choosing not to participate in the CHC waitlist or the Campuswide Honors Collegium does not affect your UCI admission. The waitlist is not a numbered list, so priority consideration is not given to those who fill out the form early.

To receive a "P" (Pass) and to get credit/units, you must earn a grade of "C+" or better. However, if a course is taken for a letter grade, the minimum grade needed for credit would be at least a "D-" in most courses.

A "C-" grade or higher is needed to "Pass" and receive credit. If a course is taken for a Letter Grade, you only need a "D-" to receive credit (with the exception of Writing courses, which require at least a "C-" to fulfill the requirement).

UC has a specific way to calculate the grade point average (GPA) it requires for admission. California applicants must earn at least a 3.0 GPA and nonresidents must earn a minimum 3.4 GPA in all A-G or college-preparatory courses to meet this requirement.

A 3.5 GPA will be highly competitive, and admission can be reasonably expected at many colleges. Still, it's not the most competitive at places like Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth, which, on average, accept students with GPAs exceeding 4.0.

Some campuses that could be in your range are CSU Chico, CSU San Francisco, and CSU Northridge. 2. University of California system: Although some UC campuses may be more selective and could be considered reach schools for a 3.5 GPA, you might still have a chance at UC Riverside or UC Merced.
